About CGHRM

The mission of the Centre is to promote research on personnel management and HRM issues in order to strengthen Sweden’s global competitive edge.

In 2012, private and public sector representatives and various academics agreed to base the Centre at the University of Gothenburg. The Centre’s activities will be financed by academic, private and public organizations.

The CGHRM aims to be a research centre and meeting place for individuals and organizations engaged in HRM issues. The Centre has the following goals:

  • To strengthen Swedish HRM research with a broad collaborative scope: locally, nationally and globally.
  • To become a knowledge bank for HRM issues: locally, nationally and globally.
  • To initiate, develop and advance relevant HRM research and development issues in dialogue with the private business and public organization sectors.
  • Through research and development of knowledge on management/leadership, to contribute to and advance personnel policies at Swedish companies and organizations.
  • To communicate our research results and to promote balanced and sustainable developments in work life: locally, nationally and globally.

Our strategies for achieving these goals are the following:

  • To become a meeting place for individuals and organizations engaged in HRM issues, we will conduct/attend seminars, hearings, workshops, breakfast meetings, etc. where researchers and professionals can meet.
  • To initiate research projects mainly through planning-grants that enables application for research grants from major Swedish research foundations/organizations such as Vetenskapsrådet, Vinnova and Forte and EU. The researchers that receive planning-grants from CGHRM are expected to attend public meetings, hearings and workshops several times a year in order to share research results.
  • To increase our community collaboration, we will promote exchanges of individuals in the private and public sectors. For example, doctoral students taking temporary internships in industry or HR professionals and HR practioners involved in Executive Faculty giving university courses/lectures.
  • To expand our outreach, we will organize activities related to contract education and contract research.
